Our Osteopaths

Dr Joel Bell
Osteopath and Musculoskeletal Podiatrist

Joel Bell

Joel is the Senior Clinician at Active Osteopathy and PerthSportsPodiatry, practising as an Osteopath and Sports/Musculoskeletal Podiatrist – a unique combination of expertise in Western Australia.

Joel is married and the proud father of three busy boys.

After 10 years living and working in Antwerp, Belgium, Joel and his family returned to Perth in 2010 to open Active Osteopathy/PerthSportsPod. While in Belgium Joel was managing his own private practice and loved the regular opportunity to lecture in post-graduate osteopathic courses in Belgium, Holland and Denmark.

Joel’s broad experiences as an Osteopath and Podiatrist give him perspective on ways to influence functional issues within the human body and a unique set of expertise to assess and address many common pain syndromes.

His own experience as a sportsman (Aust. Jnr hockey representative and WA Jnr baseball representative) and continuing commitment to staying fit (it is all about the bike!) have also helped him develop a well-rounded total approach to sports-related complaints.

Joel takes pride in providing highly individualized treatment which recognizes the multi-dimensional nature of most complaints.

Dr Whitney Lewis
Senior Osteopath

Whitney graduated from RMIT University in 2013 and began her working life as an Osteopath in inner Northern Melbourne. After two years, Whitney moved to work in a busy practice in Adelaide before taking some time off in 2018 to pursue travel, both in Australia and overseas.

Whitney grew up in WA’s beautiful South West and after 10 years away, she has finally and happily landed back in home in Perth.

Having received Osteopathic treatment since childhood, Whitney always felt passionate about Osteopathy and the role of the profession in good health care. She is comfortable to treat patients of diverse ages with a firm but careful, hands on approach. She especially enjoys treating acute pain and injury, occupational related pain, shoulder pain and has an interest in women’s health.

Whitney likes to stay active and has enjoyed doing reformer Pilates for fitness and strength in recent years, as well as running and swimming. She prefers to be outdoors in her spare time, spending time at the beach or park with family and friends. Whitney has also developed a keen interest in photography whilst traveling, and will often make time to explore with her camera.

Dr J'aime Barry
Senior Osteopath

J’aime graduated as an Osteopath from Victoria University with a double degree of Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science)(2010) and Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy)(2012). This qualification compliments her original clinical qualification and experience as a Myotherapist (since 2005).
Since graduating J’aime has worked in Melbourne, Bendigo, Canberra and now in Perth. She has worked with Football & Netball Clubs, most notably Hawthorn Football Club and Carlton Football Club assisting them with injury assessment, management and rehabilitation.
Her approach to Osteopathy is built around complete patient care: encompassing pain management, education, exercise rehabilitation and education in self-management strategies.
J’aime takes time to listen to what her patient’s concerns are and undertakes careful assessments aimed at finding dysfunction, weakness and restriction that are limiting the body’s ability to recover.

Outside of treating patients J’aime loves to spend time with family and friends, loves cooking, travels regularly and is learning to use her camera!
